Job Summary
The Senior Engineering Manager leads all engineering, design coordination, and technical management across construction projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and successful delivery. This role involves developing construction methodologies, driving design optimisation, ensuring buildability, and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities with various stakeholders. The manager provides technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from design development to project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all engineering, design coordination, and technical activities across the project lifecycle.
- Develop, review, and implement engineering strategies, construction methodologies, temporary works solutions, and buildability proposals.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering, construction, BIM, and site teams.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, authorities, subcontractors, and project teams to resolve design and technical issues.
- Review and manage all engineering deliverables, documentation, and technical submissions.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, statutory regulations, authority requirements, contractual obligations, and company standards, including Quality Management Systems and EHS policies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate engineering and construction risks throughout all project phases.
- Monitor design and construction progress, resolving issues impacting project schedules.
- Lead value engineering and design optimisation initiatives to improve constructability, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Support project planning, construction sequencing, and resource requirement development.
- Coordinate statutory authority submissions and approvals.
- Drive the implementation of BIM, digital construction technologies, and innovative engineering solutions.
- Report engineering progress, technical risks, and key project issues to senior management.
- Mentor and develop engineering personnel for technical competency and succession planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Construction Management, or a related discipline; Master's Degree advantageous.
- Minimum 15 years of construction industry experience, with at least 8 years in engineering management or senior project engineering roles for major building projects.
- Proven experience with large-scale construction projects valued at S$500 million and above.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, buildability, temporary works, design coordination, and engineering management practices.
- Familiarity with Singapore statutory requirements and authority processes (BCA, SCDF, PUB, LTA, MOM).
- Experience in BIM implementation, digital construction technologies, and engineering innovation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with diverse project stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Highly organised, self-driven, and effective in a fast-paced project environment.
