Power BI Developer/Senior Reporting Engineer - Tieto Tech Consulting (m/f/d)

Role: Sr. Power BI Engineer

Objective:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI Developer with strong hands-on expertise in designing, developing, and deploying end‑to‑end business intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate must have deep experience with Power BI Copilot (mandatory) and other Power BI AI capabilities, including Q&A, Smart Narrative, AI visuals, and related features that enhance productivity and self‑service analytics.

The candidate should be highly skilled in data modeling, DAX, and interactive dashboard/report design, with the ability to transform complex and raw data into meaningful insights that support strategic business decision‑making across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 

• Design, develop, and publish interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI.
• Build and optimize data models (Star/Snowflake schema, calculated tables, DAX measures).
• Work with multiple data sources including SQL Server, Azure, AWS (Redshift, Athena, S3),Excel, APIs, and cloud services.
• Implement row-level security (RLS), scheduled refreshes, and workspace management in   Power BI Service.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights.
• Ensure data accuracy, governance, and performance optimization of reports and queries.
• Support integration with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or other ETL/data platforms (if required).
• Stay up to date with latest Power BI and Microsoft Fabric features to improve reporting capabilities.

Mandatory Skills Required:

• Strong expertise in SQL (queries, joins, stored procedures, performance tuning).
• Strong hands-on expertise with Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service (reports, dashboards, apps).
• Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for building complex measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
• Proficiency in Data Modeling (Star/Snowflake schema, relationships, optimized semantic models).
• Power BI AI Capabilities (Copilot, Q&A, Smart Narrative, AI visuals)
• Strong communication skills to interface with technical and business stakeholders.
• 8 to 10 years of total experience and at least 6 years of experience in Power BI

Secondary Skills Required:

• Experience with Azure Data Services such as Data Factory (ADF), Data Lake, and Databricks.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and emerging BI/analytics tools.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and orchestration tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS (S3, Redshift, BigQuery) is a plus.
• Exposure to machine learning models integration with Power BI.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies for project delivery.
